Congratulations to Zoë Gadegbeku for her hard work on her Gold Award.  Zoë is a Norcross Service Unit Julliette who has facilitated an annual event to educate young women on the career opportunities available in Health Care and Science. CELEBRATES 100 YEARS!! 
 
March 12, 2012 Marks our 100th year Centennial Celebration.  In 2012, Girl Scouts of the USA will mark 100 years of inspiring girls and young women with the ideals of courage, confidence and character. Millions of active Girl Scouts, volunteers and alumnae will come together to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts is the largest girl-serving organization in the nation, and we will honor our rich legacy of developing girl and young women leaders.

Girl Scout Scholarships GSUSA has identified several national scholarships specific to Girl Scouting.
 
Global Leadership Opportunities GSUSA is seeking applications from young women to join a pool of volunteers interested in global leadership opportunities. Members of this pool may be asked to represent GSUSA at the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) leadership events and trainings, and will serve for a triennium (2011-2014). 
 
Join the Girl Scouts Advocacy Network The Girl Scouts Advocacy Network provides a tool for you to become a voice for girls and to make a difference in your community and across the nation. Together, we can educate policymakers and community leaders on issues that directly affect girls and the Girl Scouts. By being an advocate, you will have an impact on girl policy issues moving through Congress and state legislatures.

Ceremonies and Traditions
Now you can have an online reference to planning Ceremonies and Traditions!  You will also find a link to this on the Resource Center Page.
It's a large file, so it may take a few minutes to download, depending on your connection speed.
 
Annual Fund
Council would like each troop to submit the name/address/phone of a small business in their neighborhood to the SU Annual Fund Chairperson. Council personnel will be soliciting these business. Each troop is expected to participate in the AFC. Also remember "matching funds" from employers.
 
Junior, Cadette, and Senior Girl Scout Girls Care awards - projects which can lead to Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards.
 
2011 Training Sessions are available for registration
Required leader training and workshops are available via council
Leadership Development Pin for a Leader or Co-Leader 
 
This pin is earned when a Leader does what a normal leader does!
Have you done the following:
 
-  Completed one year as a registered 01 or 02 troop leader.
-  Completed the basic training:
         Online Volunteer Orientation
         New Leader Training
-  Completed (or had someone in the troop complete) the following training:
         First Aid and CPR
         Trips and Overnights
-  Attended two Girl Scout meetings or events beyond your regular troop meetings. Examples include:
         Service Unit Meetings/Events
         Troop Special Ceremonies
         Council Meeting/Event

Did you know???
To sponsor a Service Unit Event (such as Try-It Day, International Day, Mother / Daughter banquet) an adult sponsoring your event MUST have training in "Planning Events Beyond Your Troop."
 
Registration 
Please pick up your registration forms or contact the Registration Chairperson.

*You must have a Membership Dues Summary accompanying any registration forms that you need to submit. Please turn in two copies of each form – either the white and yellow copies of the carbon-less duplicate form, or a photocopy of the printed form. You need one check payable to “Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta” for the $12 registration fee, and a separate check payable to “Norcross Service Unit” for the $3 dues. One check per troop is preferred for the Service Unit dues. Additional registration forms and a drop box are available at the Registrar’s home, or at the next Service Unit meeting.*
